“You know she won’t be impressed with that.”

“Yeah, well, I need to sleep,” I say, opening the door.

She rolls her eyes. “I’m sure sleep is all you need.”

I smirk before I gently open the front passenger door. Lilith remains asleep, her mouth slightly open as another soft snore leaves her. I reach for her, and Hannah hisses, “Just wake her up.” Ignoring her, I pick Lilith up. She wakes and looks me dead in the eyes.

“We’re here. My driver will get our bags.” She makes no move to get down as I carry her. The driver has our bags in hand as he unlocks the front door. I step into the hallway, which leads to an elevator. I have the top floor of this apartment building.

“You can put me down now,” Lilith says as we board the elevator, and I press the button for my floor. “I shouldn’t be here, should I?” She bites her lip and shakes her head as I place her on her feet. “I was impulsive, and my therapist told me not to be so impulsive.”

“You’re in therapy?” I ask, and she rolls her eyes at me.

“Not anymore. She was terrible and told me to get rid of any bad thoughts and just replace them with good ones.” She says the last bit with a fake accent. “Yeah, like that really works.”

The elevator doors open, and I step out and unlock the double doors of my apartment.

“This is a nice place.” She walks inside and immediately eyes everything, running her hand along the back of the brown leather couch with cow-print pillows scattered on top. Then she takes in the large flat-screen television hanging on the wall. She turns to the dining table situated in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Stepping around the table, she stops and gazes out at the view. The cityscape sprawls before her, skyscrapers towering, their lights painting the sky. A river shimmers in the distance from the reflections of the city lights. Below the pulse of the city, the movement of cars, a constant symphony of life amidst a concrete jungle. The occasional blare of a siren drifts up, a reminder of the bustle of city life. This view never fails to captivate. Each building, each street, and every part of the city holds a story waiting to be discovered.

I step up behind her, planting my hand on the glass beside her head. She turns and sucks in a breath at my nearness.

“Want to have some fun?” I ask.

“Fun?”

Those fuck-me eyes stare back at me with mischief. Fuck.

“Yes, fun. It’s late but still early for the city. Partygoers will be everywhere, drunk and making fools of themselves,” I tell her, unable to look away.

“I had fun earlier. Does that count?”

I reach up, brushing some of her hair behind her ear. “Oh, it does. And I plan to have more fun before I return you home.”

She looks away. “I’m not sure I want to go home.”

“You’re married,” I point out.

“Not by choice. I honestly wish I had never married that man.”

I pull away and walk to the end of the hall, then enter my bedroom. After changing my jacket and shoes, I step back out to find her still standing where I left her, taking in the city skyline. I plan to show her a good time, so she forgets all about her fucking scumbag husband and fuck her so good and hard she will never think of him again. Not because I want to keep her—that would be crazy.

“Are you ready?”

“Sure. Let’s get fucked up, then have rough sex,” Lilith says.

“I like the sound of that.”

LILITH

Dear Diary,

Fuck! Life feels good when your husband cheats on you!

I know, I know. Weird thing to say.

But look where I am.

And look at the man I’m with.

I wonder what other ways he can make me come.

Probably more than my husband ever could.

My hands are swaying in the air, and I’m mouthing the words to the song, which I’m sure are wrong. His hands are on my hips, and his lips are on my neck as he moves behind me.

It’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time.

It’s nice to just let go.

To be free.

I have a feeling I could kill someone, and Reon wouldn’t judge me.

It could be the alcohol talking, though.

And this is all so wrong. But why does it feel so right?

He pulls me back into his body, and I feel him hard against me. I turn to face him, and he molds our bodies together. The dance floor is packed, and people are pushing us, but we don’t care. He leans down, but his lips don’t touch mine. We’ve been dancing for what feels like hours.

“I need air,” I say.

He nods, clasps my hand, and walks us straight through the crowd. They part for him. Reon is all man, so unlike Deven. He bleeds authority and emits a sense of danger. He has this sinister look about him that you just know isn’t average. I think that’s what attracted me to him.
