So yes, this is the life, and I smile while leaning back on the couch. Colt and Cason will be back later tonight, and we’ll eat together in the big dining room before going upstairs for another round of deep, penetrative sex. Maybe they’ll suck my nipples while giving it to me in the pussy. Or maybe I’ll be asked to squat over one of their dicks as they push it deep into my rectum, and I’ll wail with pleasure because these are the dirty acts we get up to each night, and I love it all.

But then my phone pings, and I check my messages. It’s from Troy, Becca’s husband. We’ve kept in touch since meeting at his daughter’s birthday party months ago, and it’s fine. He’s a black sheep among the Madewells, and dare I say it? Troy is potentially an independent. Not a Democrat, but anything less than hard-core Republican would be anathema to the Madewells.

Yo, you coming to the party this weekend? he texts. Juno and Jamie are turning six.

I pause.

There’s a party? I text back. I had no idea.

There’s a long silence before three dots appear, indicating that Troy’s typing.

Oh dear, he writes. I’m so sorry. You didn’t know? My wife planned the event and I figured she sent you guys the invitation. I’m sorry.

I shake my head, frowning.

No, it’s okay. Let me ask Cason and Colt. The invitation would have gone to them, so they probably just haven’t told me.

Then, I put my phone down. It is possible that the twins received the invitation and haven’t informed me of our plans this weekend, but it’s also possible that Becca omitted them from the guest list on purpose. My heart clenches as my eyes squeeze shut because I know how important family is to my lovers. They adore their clan, and this is the first hint I’ve gotten that the worst has occurred. Are Colt and Cason in the process of being ostracized by their kin? Oh my god. My heart clenches as pain strikes in my stomach.

At that moment, the door bangs open and my handsome lovers enter the foyer.

“In here!” I manage to call out.

Within seconds, two huge forms materialize at the doorway before striding in to press kisses to my mouth.

“You look beautiful,” Colt growls against my lips.

“So fuckable, as always,” Cason adds, bending for his own kiss. “Ready to get fucked, sweetheart?”

I smile, hiding my suspicions.

“You two are so dirty, oh my god! How was the office today?”

The twins are dressed in dark suits, and extraordinarily handsome with their black hair brushed back and gleaming blue eyes. They put their bags down and shrug out of the well-cut blazers.

“Fine,” Colt answers.

“We made another hundred million today,” drawls Cason. “So it was a good day.”

Again, I’m astonished by the vast sum of their wealth. Of course, the Big House is testament to their success, but I’ll never be able to get used to the idea of a hundred million dollars. It’s so much money that it’s inconceivable.

“Well, good, because I have something thorny to bring up with you,” I say. Colt and Cason shoot me indulgent looks.

“Is it Kanga again? The puppy’s not doing your bidding?” Colt asks.

“Or is it the chickens?” Cason growls. “I swear, I hate those birds. I’d wring their necks and sell them to Popeye’s if I could.”

“No you wouldn’t!” I squeal with laughter. “I love Dido, Missy, and all the other girls. They’re sweet.”

Cason merely grins.

“McChicken,” he says in a faux-ominous tone. “Bock bock bock.”

I dissolve into giggles again before straightening and putting a somber look on my face.

“No seriously,” I begin again. “I know we haven’t talked about this much, but have you been communicating with your family? We haven’t met up with the Madewells since the party three months ago, but I figured that was normal. Or is there something else?”

The twins share a look.

“We haven’t been talking with them,” Colt begins.

“And it’s because they’re motherfuckers who were given a choice, and chose their beliefs and values.”

I stare.

“Meaning?”

“Meaning that we have a huge family, sweetheart. There’s a family event almost every weekend, and we haven’t been invited to any since the last time we brought you.”

“So it is because of me,” I say in a low tone, my heart dropping.

The twins share another look.

“It is, but it’s not you as an individual sweetheart. It’s them, and their fucked-up judgments. They’ve got their faces so far up into that family values crap that they’re eating shit at this point.”

I pause.

“But you believe in family values. As do I.”

Colt nods seriously.

“Yes, and we’re jumping the gun a little, Kiki, but we want a baby with you. Multiple babies, if you’ll have it. But again, our particular family set-up doesn’t jibe with what the Madewells believe is “godly” and “just,” and as a result, we’re no longer receiving invitations to family events.”
