He obeys, and I notice how easy it’s been for me to stay lodged inside him even during our chat. We finally manage to pry away from each other and clean up enough to get on with our day.

And really, nothing gets me pumped for my African Art class like having just bred Dax, but I don’t know how eager I am to spend some time around his frathole buddies at Alpha Theta Mu, especially given my last interaction with them. But he’s not wrong—I wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to be around when he’s fully bred, his buddies totally oblivious. So when my class ends, I return to my place, change, then head on over, texting to give him a heads-up.

Me: Hope you’re ready for those breathing exercises again.

It’s weird. I never mention my panic attacks so casually, but Dax somehow eases all this weight I carry. Like it’s safe to share things with him I wouldn’t feel safe to do with anyone else.

As I approach his frat house, a text comes through.

Dax: Another guy in the house is planning to be a doc, so we’ll have an emergency crew ready for when you get here.

I snicker. But despite teasing about it, I’m not exactly eager to see any of these guys. Still, they didn’t give me any hell when I was fixing up the railing after the last incident, so maybe it’ll be fine. If it’s not, well, it’ll be tolerable because I’m getting to spend some more time with Dax.

I knock on the door, and Dax answers. “Damien here?” I tease.

“Sure, I’ll go grab him and see if he needs a good breeding.”

We share a laugh as he leads me in. The living area is pretty packed, and I spot Damien and Aiden playing with a puppy—a Lab mix, maybe.

Then I see some familiar faces on the sofa.

“Troy? Atlas?” They’re Alpha Theta Mu alums. Atlas is an organizer at Activate Kindness, and I started working with them when I was placed on deferred adjudication for starting that fire and had to get some community service hours in. Then I wound up getting involved in the builds they ran for the local housing project. Atlas is in grad school at Peach State, and they live in an apartment complex nearby. Between school, their jobs, and working with the local nonprofit, I can’t imagine they have a lot of time to visit the frat, so it’s nice to see them again.

“Hey, Miles. What’s up?” Troy says. “Been a minute.” He wears that charming-ass smile. He’s a big ole jock type with that sort of loveable personality that would normally make my skin crawl, and if he didn’t have a cool Atlas to vouch for him, I doubt I’d have ever given him a shot.

“Miles, buddy,” Atlas follows.

This catches the dog’s attention, and it rushes over to me. The little guy’s not even up to my knees, so I squat down to offer some scritches.

“So we got a dog,” Atlas announces as he and Troy approach.

“I think this one’s broken,” Damien interjects. “Obviously not a good judge of character.”

He gives me a pointed glare, and hey, dude, I really don’t like you that much either.

“Be nice,” Troy tells Damien with a tone, but I take the advice myself, swallowing down the insults I was coming up with.

Dax squats down next to me to pet the little guy.

“What’s his name?” I ask.

“We’re still debating between Pryor and Winston. Trying to get some feedback.”

“That’s why you came back to your old frat?”

“Oh, no,” Troy says. “We happened to be here anyway. We got the Activate Kindness bachelor auction coming up this Saturday, and we’re trying to grab more guys to help out. Speaking of, Miles…”

Clearly, this is the part where I’m supposed to volunteer. “Hell no,” I spit out since that’s not gonna be my thing at all. “Sorry, but that sounds about as enticing as a TaskFrat Challenge. I’m sure you won’t have any issues finding guys eager to humiliate themselves.”

“Speaking of guys who don’t mind humiliating themselves,” Atlas says, directing his attention to Dax, who turns to me. His expression twists up, like he’s debating it.

I was so insistent about being exclusive with my dick, that he must be wondering if that’s a smart idea, but it’s a fucking bachelor auction.

“You should do it,” I tell him. Not that he needs my permission, but if he’s having doubts because of our agreement, I want him to know I’ll be totally cool.

So why is my throat tightening up?

Dax’s expression relaxes, assuring me I was right about his hesitation.

“I’m happy to help,” he tells the guys.

My shoulders are tight too, now that I think about it.

“Great.” Troy grins.

They give him some info about the event, and I tell them I’ll at least be present, before they let us spoil their new pup with treats they brought with them. While Troy and Atlas are catching up with the other guys, Dax says, “So you don’t mind them selling my ass off for a price?”
