That was so true even Carrick had to chuckle. “You are very sparkly and I’m very glad you are not the sticky sort of little.”

Lorne let out a naughty giggle. “You’ll make me sticky doing very grown-up things, won’t you, Sir?”

Yep, Carrick had been shifted into the broody and sexy category because even his glare got a giggle from Lorne. “Dates first. Sticky second.”

“Yes, Sir.” Lorne was trying to sound very well-behaved but it didn’t really work. “I can’t wait to go on a date with you.”

“All three before you get ogred. Don’t forget that.” It seemed like they both needed a reminder about that part, and as the words sank in, they sighed in unison.

I managed not to laugh but it was close.

“He’s not going to forget. I told you that.” Carrick shrugged like there was nothing he could do about it.

Lorne didn’t agree with him.

“If you’d give him more orgasms, we wouldn’t be in this situation.” Shaking his head, he managed to say that with a completely straight face. “Daddies should not be allowed to get sexually frustrated. It makes them have more rules and nobody wants that.”

Refusing to even think about if that was true or not, I scoffed. “I want to be romanced just as much as the mage. Don’t forget that.”

Lorne looked over his shoulder and wiggled his ass. “I won’t, Daddy. I’m going to be very romantic.”

I had a feeling we had different definitions for that word…and Carrick’s chuckle said he was thinking the same thing.

Of course, Lorne looked pleased with all the attention and went back to flirting with his mage. “I’ll be very romantic for you too, Sir.”

Carrick reached up and tapped his nose, making Lorne laugh. “We’ll both have different relationships with you, so no worries about making sure everything is equal. It will all work out in the end.”

Lorne pouted, but it quickly shifted to a more thoughtful expression. “As long as we all have good communication and you and Daddy have a relationship too. I’m going to be stubborn about it, so there’s no point in arguing with me.”

With that adorable declaration out in the open, he straightened and folded his arms over his chest. “That means four dates. You and Daddy need a date too.”

Interesting.

But probably not reasonable based on how quickly I’d seen most newly mated couples fall into bed.

Especially lately.

While part of me could see the intimate side of our relationship getting further and further away with every date we needed to have, I could see where he was coming from. I didn’t have a good picture about what my date with Carrick would look like, though.

But where my mind was whirling and nearly blank, the grumpy mage in question seemed to be blushing.

“And a date means dinner someplace other than the diner and you have to at least kiss at the end.” Still looking wonderfully stubborn, Lorne nodded like it punctuated his sentence. “I’m going to be a really good mate and not demand to watch.”

Carrick couldn’t seem to decide how he was going to react, but I thought it was the cutest drama ever. “I’m glad you’re feeling very generous, monkey, but how about we let things happen naturally?”

That had both of them glaring at me.

“Daddy, he’s going to want kisses too.” Lorne seemed to think I was stupid but he was too polite to tell me exactly what he was thinking. “I know, Daddy. Trust me.”

“I don’t need kisses.” Carrick was trying to glare at both of us but that got to be difficult when Lorne kissed his cheek again.

“Mates need kisses.” Firmly convinced about his wisdom, Lorne charged right back in. “Your frowns probably made Daddy think you don’t like him enough to be kissing mates.”

Lorne thought Carrick liked me enough to be kissing mates?

Instead of setting him straight, Carrick seemed to go around that point. “I don’t frown. I’m just not dragon-level happy.”

“That’s understandable, but we’ll find a way for you to not frown in a happier way.” Lorne gave him another cheek kiss that seemed less manipulative and more genuine. “Then he’ll know you need kisses too…and then I’ll get a Daddy who needs less rules…and everyone will get what they need.”

Smiling like he was the best and he knew it, Lorne glanced between us. “What do we think about having our group date tonight after we find my phone?”

Yes, we couldn’t forget about that.

Focusing back on his mage, Lorne’s smile turned flirty. “Daddy said you were the best at finding things. He said you’d be happy to help me find my phone, but I don’t know how you do that. Would you show me?”

Oh, he was good.

“I’d be happy to show you.” Completely forgetting how uncomfortable he’d just been, Carrick kissed Lorne’s cheek before giving his bottom a pat. “Up you go and we’ll go get the map.”
