I opened my mouth to speak, but Sully beat me to it.

“She is being transferred to Garrison Physio first for three weeks once she’s discharged,” he stated. “Then she’ll come here, and I’ve arranged private physio daily.”

“Ah, Garrison has a great reputation. We have worked with them before.”

Sully nodded, then crossed his arms, pursing his lips. “This room will not do.”

“Oh?”

“No. Have you anything else?”

She looked between Sully and me. I was staring at him, unsure what he was doing. I knew nothing of Garrison. I couldn’t afford private care. The cost of this room was going to eat into the budget as it was. I planned to supplement Lynn’s bank account to be able to afford it. She deserved that, but I only had so much. And with not knowing the future, I didn’t want to overextend.

“I have one other, but the price—”

Sully waved her off. “Is of no consequence. My fiancée and I would like to see it. If it is not satisfactory, we have an appointment at Westside later.”

We did?

Georgia looked displeased. “I’m sure that won’t be necessary. Let me get the keys.”

“What are you doing?” I hissed when she left. “Garrison? Private physio? A bigger suite? I can’t afford those!” Then I threw up my arms. “Fiancée?”

He chuckled, pulling me close. He kissed the end of my nose. “I love seeing you all pissed at me. You’re dead sexy all riled up.”

“Seriously, Sully—”

He cut me off with a kiss. “You are marrying me, so therefore, you are my fiancée. I need to solve the ring thing, though, so you don’t forget that. Or the fact that the rest is because I love you and Lynn is now part of my family. And I protect and care for what is mine. End of story.”

“Sully,” I began, but he shook his head.

“End of story.”

“You are the most infuriating man I know.”

“Good. It’ll keep you on your toes for the next forty years.”

Georgia returned. “I checked, and the garden-view suite is available.”

“We’d like to see that,” Sully replied, holding me close. “Wouldn’t we, mo fhiadh beag?”

“Of course,” I muttered. “Show away.”

The suite was wonderful. Painted a soft green Lynn would love. All the same safety features, plus a view of the back garden and a larger footprint. There was even a skylight over where the bed would be, and I knew she would love lying there seeing the stars. “Think of the size of the telly we can put up for her to watch her shows,” he said enthusiastically. “That wall would be perfect for it. She’ll be spotting blood patterns before the coppers do.”

I shook my head as he laughed. He had told me of the in-depth conversation he’d had with her about her true crime shows while I was talking to the doctor. He thought it was awesome.

I shuddered when the price of the suite was mentioned, but Sully didn’t bat an eye.

“What do you think?” he asked me.

I had no idea what to say. I was too overwhelmed. “It’s, ah, nice.”

“Westside isn’t as well staffed. There are no garden-view suites. And Lynn is so well-known here—surely you don’t want to take her away from that?” Georgia asked, sounding upset.

“We only want where she’ll get the best care. After what happened…” Sully trailed off.

“She removed her lifeline. She was still very independent and required no help with dressing or getting around. Here, she will be checked and monitored much more frequently. Receive help with dressing, bathing, everything. All meals and snacks. She can bring in her own furniture, of course, and make the place to her personal taste.”

“Of course,” I soothed. I had always been pleased with the care Lynn received. It had been perfect for what she needed then, and I was sure it would be the same now. I shot Sully a look that made him smile. “My, ah, fiancé is simply making sure this is right for her.”

He beamed at me when he heard me refer to him as my fiancé. I had a feeling if Georgia weren’t here, he’d show me how pleased.

“We offer a small discount for those who move care levels, of course,” Georgia said, a small note of desperation in her voice. “Sort of a family-type discount.”

“Ah, lovely,” Sully said smoothly. “Why don’t we discuss the particulars while Autumn looks around a bit more. If she is satisfied, then I will be as well. And of course you will give her time to clear out Lynn’s things from her current place. Not rush her since she is having to be there for Lynn, finish up her responsibilities here, and prepare to move to Scotland?”

Georgia nodded as if under a spell. “Of course. Will the end of the month be enough time?”

“That coincides with her rental agreement, I believe. And I read the fine print. There’ll be no additional fees added to that,” Sully stated firmly. “My law firm is big on the fine print.”
