“I’m...I’m really sorry for your loss,” I say. “I’m sorry about everything else that has happened to lead up to this point. I’ve had so many things I’ve wished I could say to you, but in the end, I’m left with nothing. I know how this looks, my family was the one who took your daughter, but I assure you I had nothing to do with it and I’m so very sorry you’ve been through what you have.”

I hold my breath, waiting for their reaction.

It never comes.

“We’re not here to cause trouble,” Georgia says, calmly. “We just wanted to come and say thank you. Sheryl informed us of what happened with your family, and what your father did to you. We’re so incredibly sorry you were marked with that, even if it was only for a few days. We’re grateful for the fight you put up to help found our daughter.”

“Fight?” I say, acting stupid because as far as anyone knows, I have no idea what went down.

“Sheryl said that you played your hand in seeking justice for our girl, and we wanted to thank you for that.”

Sheryl. I wonder just how much she suspects or even knows and chooses not to say? I know one thing is for certain, I like that woman. I like her a lot. Without her I wouldn’t be standing where I am right now. She is the reason I’m not behind bars, because she believed in me even though the evidence pointed directly at me. Most cops wouldn’t give you the time of the day with that kind of evidence in place, but Sheryl did.

I make a mental note to pop in and thank her. Maybe take her a bottle of wine.

Everyone loves wine, right?

“It was the least I could do. Your daughter, she deserved justice. You deserved to know what happened to her. I’m so sorry it had to be my family that was the problem.”

Georgia smiles. “You aren’t your family, Gabriella. I’m sorry to hear that things have gone bad for you, but I hope you know that we’ll be forever grateful.”

I give them a warm smile. “I appreciate that.”

I speak to them for a bit longer, and they give me a quick hug and then leave.

I didn’t think I’d ever feel okay about what happened to my father, but after that, I think I might have just made the right choice when it came to him.

Did I want him to die? No.

But do I believe all actions have consequences? Yes.

My father brought a lot of the trouble in his life upon himself.

He paid the price for those choices, even if that price was his life.

His actions are not my actions.

I refuse to live with the guilt of them any longer.

It’s time to let go and move forward.

Finally.

“OHHH, GIRL, YOU’RE blushing,” Ramona teases, grinning as she shakes her booty from side to side, pointing her fingers at me. “Is he that good?”

I scoff and take a sip of my drink. “You know how good these bikers are.”

“Yes, but I’ve never gotten that nasty before,” she winks, “I need to know more.”

“So do I,” Poppy says, crossing her legs and rubbing her little belly. “Like, how the fuck did you do it?”

“Did you get on your hands and he just lifted you up?” Eve asks, eyes wide.

“It’s called the wheelbarrow, guys, it is exactly what it sounds like,” I laugh.

“Yes, but, when he’s fucking you how to you stop yourself face planting the ground?” Ramona asks.

“He’s taking the weight, you know? Your legs are kind of hooked around him, he’s hanging onto you, and you’re just holding the top half of your body up with your hands.”

“It just sounds so difficult,” Eve says, squinting as she tries to picture it in her head. “Does it feel good?”

“Oh girl,” I grin. “Yes.”

“That man is a devil,” Ramona grins. “I’m going home to try this with Adan tonight. Man better not drop me. I don’t want to be walking around missing two front teeth.”

“Can you imagine?” Poppy giggles. “God, that would be so funny.”

“What’s the weirdest position you girls have done?” I ask them.

Eve puts her hand up like an excited schoolgirl getting asked a question. “It wasn’t with Riggs, so don’t tell him, but there was this one guy that I was with and we were having sex in this like super weird position. I can’t even remember the name, but it was all twisty and fucked, and I think we broke his penis.”

“Wait?” I gasp. “You broke his penis?”

“Well...” Eve says, giving a guilty look. “He kind of had this like...angle to it after that.”

“Oh my god,” Poppy chuckles. “Like a banana?”

I burst out laughing at the image.

Eve grins. “Basically, I had to tilt to the side to slide on.”

We all lose it laughing.
