But for now, her Mom and Dad couldn’t be prouder or happier.

“She’s just so…easy to look after,” Vanessa tells me as I hand Holly back after changing her.

“Like she’s already a little grown-up,” I add, unable to stop fawning over my daughter.

Hopelessly in love with my wife and now the ultimate addition to the two of us makes three.

An instant family.

But as much as I love ‘em both, as much as I’m crazy about Vanessa and Holly. I want more already, “A hundred kids,” I tell her until Vanessa reminds me that it’s her that does the heavy lifting when it comes to pregnancy.

“Uh… Michael? I actually have to carry these little miracles inside me for almost a year,” she calmly reminds me.

“One, or a hundred…or any number in between,” I compromise, stroking my wife’s long hair back, curling it around her ear.

It’s grown so much and looks better this way. Soft and flowing.

Vanessa tells me my own additional gray hairs only make me look more handsome, more distinguished.

“How about we just let nature run its course?” she offers, and I nod in agreement. Kissing her and then Holly gently on the head.

“I just love being a Dad so much,” I sigh. “Love being a husband, too,” I add, making my wife blush as my hand strays by instinct.

“Not in front of the children,” Vanessa cautions me, playfully scolding me as she checks the time.

“It’s about time for Holly’s nap anyway,” she says, making baby faces and tickling little Holly, who’s already yawning at the mention of the word ‘nap.’

“Maybe Mommy and Daddy could have a little lay down as well?” I suggest, but Vanessa’s one step ahead of me.

Laughing to herself as she lets me know yet again that she’s made it seem like my idea.

Settling Holly into her crib in the room next to ours, Vanessa tells me she’ll be waiting for me once she kisses Holly.

I take my time putting Holly down, making sure the music box she loves to hear so much tinkles softly as she gurgles and wriggles.

Looking up at me with her mother’s eyes, her tiny fingers reaching for mine as she fights off sleep for a minute.

“Sweet dreams, Holly,” I whisper to her, stroking her tiny head, my heart exploding in my chest as I watch my baby girl sleeping peacefully.

“Mommy and Daddy will help make all those dreams come true,” I promise her, breathing in her baby smell before I hear Vanessa’s husky tone calling me from the bedroom.

“Gotta go, angel,” I whisper to Holly. “Gonna have a little brother or sister for you to play with real soon.”

A promise that’s easy to keep once I see Vanessa waiting for me on our bed.

Her knees are tucked under herself as she sits up, wearing some new lingerie that makes me groan as soon as I see her.

“You still think I’m sexy with all my pregnancy lines,” she asks, but I shake my head. Moving over to her in two long steps, undressing as I watch her looking up at me.

“You’re not just sexy,” I growl, feeling my hardness slap against my own belly as I slip out of my jeans.

“You’re fucking perfect. And I’m gonna keep telling you that, every day.”

Joining her on our bed, I embrace her sweet body against mine, both of us sighing with pleasure and relief.

Her new lingerie, suffering the same fate as all the others. Torn from her once my need for her skin against mine is unleashed.

“I’m gonna…grow old with you…Mrs. Hart,” I tell her, kissing her with each set of few words.

Letting my hands do the real talking before we fall into a locked ball of husband and wife. Man and woman.

Her shivered breaths and a heavy climax we both share proves my point.

“I love you, Vanessa,” I whisper to her, “forever. Through the good and the bad.”

“There is no bad,” she answers, stroking my hair as we spoon after we’re both spent.

“That’s true,” I agree, kissing her deeply. “And there never will be as long as I’ve got you,” I rasp with all the emotion for her and our family in my voice.

“As long as we’ve got each other,” she reminds me. And we stay snuggled up in bed, repeating our vows with each little touch, each little kiss, and caress.

“Us...Always,” I whisper when she falls asleep in my arms.

The house we’ve built together, the child we’ve made.

The life we have is all just a reflection of her.

And it’s perfect.

YEARS LATER

Vanessa

“Mommy! Mommy! Daddy and me caught something!” Holly squeals, holding the glass jar that’s her baby brother’s size over her head.

Filled with seawater and sand, I can see something that looks like a crab moving inside it.

Michael beaming with pride before he shrugs as I feel my face screwing up, poking my tongue out at him as I nurse little Samuel.
